Nordjevel – Gnavhòl
Release Date: 23rd September 2022
Label: Indie Recordings
The album features ten insane tracks composed of super sharp and unwieldy drumming, assiduously psycho guitar riffs, and background vocals that intertwine with the gutturals vocals.
Dude, damn it! What a fabulous album. The momentum, the speed of light and the encroachment of aggression on the tracks are astounding. Nordjevel has built from the beginning of his career to the present moment a black metal absolutely & frankly violent and in the darkest possible vein. I can only wish you to be devastated by this insane and downright masterful release that is Gnavhòl. This album is a strong contender for the best black metal album of 2022.
FIRTAN – Marter
Release Date: 30th September 2022
Label: AOP Records
This album is a milestone in the world black metal scene, yes worldwide. In addition to the sound layers that interpose and unfold in pure black metal, progressive metal, melodic black metal, atmospheric and post-black metal, the change of pace that brings out different types of moods into the tracks. Marter’s lyrical theme addresses the isolation of the modern individual who finds himself torn between spiritual hope and existential failure. So from the beginning to the end, you have that visceral instrumental explosion accompanied by killer vocals interspersed with quiet and subtle parts. Measured doses of progressive metal and bespoke synths were a welcome addition.
ANCESTRUM – Forleden
Release Date: 5th September 2022
Label: Cold Northern Breeze Records
Pagan black metal from Argentina, born initially on the Nordic confines of the planet, Ancestrum is simply excellent. In the line of Kampfar, Vreid, and Moonsorrow, the band characterize themselves by vitality, speed to a certain extent, infusion of aggressive and clean voices, and a beautiful chorus making Forleden a gem to be considered and exploited to the fullest. Splendid drums and guitar, these guys are epic, frosty and bring all the melodic beauty and delicacy of pagan hymns to our insane day-to-day running, without falling into the commonplace of so many pagan black metal bands, including those we already know very well. In other words, buy your copy! Highly recommended!
SOUL DISSOLUTION – Sora
Release Date: 30th September 2022
Label: Viridian Flame Records
“The release of this third album also marks the 10th anniversary of the band’s existence, which is indeed quite fitting, as these songs have been in the making for almost just as long. Back in 2014, the concept behind this album had already been conceived, and although most of the music has been significantly rewritten since those times, its essence remains unchanged. It is with great anticipation, and also a bit of relief after all these years spent working on it, that we finally present this album to you!” ~SOUL DISSOLUTION
ELLENDE – Ellenbogengesellschaft
Release Date: 30th September 2022
Label: AOP Records
Ellende’s album is one of the essential post-Black albums for your collection. Of course, like all the others, this great guy has introduced us to until today. Ellenbogengesellschaft was emotionally built and flawless from start to finish.
