Today I will briefly review the recent EP Death Damnation, released by Polish band Infernal Legion on 1st August. For those who still don’t know the band, it was formed in 2021 when they released their demo Blessed by Satan. On 30th January 2022 came the debut album Beast Reborn. Infernal Legion is dedicated body and soul to old-school raw black metal with thrash metal influences; you can say what you want about them unless they are not a genuinely underground band. By the way, they’ve already proved it with Beast Reborn in his insane 22 minutes.

Without further ado, the recent Death Damnation EP released by the Terror Black Cult label features four tracks that run to close 13 minutes of remarkable intensity. The guys are obscene; they are impetuous and defend their ideal, old-school music with lyrics that are true Odes to Satan. The album opens with Ad Majorem Sathanas Gloriam (To The Greater Glory of Satan).
From now on, it’s pure ravenous, earth-shaking assault; the guys don’t slow down, ok, maybe once in a while along their tracks. Nothing like good old black metal developed in some cabin lost in the woods or a hellish dungeon. This EP is very straightforward; the vocals are visceral, snarling and deliver pure destruction in an old-fashioned way, as are the riffs that are very nice and direct. The line-up works well together, and no one here wants to be the party’s star. Everyone worked together very professionally.
The EP is an essential and wild black metal and doesn’t care about innovations since the group wants to keep the essence, at least until now.
I don’t have anything negative to say about the music of Infernal Damnation, except for the short time of the EP. Maybe the band could have developed the songs more in a longer run time and created something longer because the sound is pleasant, without a doubt.
The cover art was well chosen and represented this release very well. This EP is cult, even in terms of release. Only released in a limited edition on cassette, Death Damnation, you won’t find on any online platform.
My favourite tracks are Ad Majorem Sathanas Gloriam, Invocation of Blasphemy and Blessed by Satan.
This last track is included in the demo of the same name and received a varnish that made it more beautiful. Although the cassettes sold out in a short time and you are drooling with curiosity, I invite you to give it a spin in the album Beast Reborn in the player below:
Infernal Legion is a cult black metal band, and I’m looking forward to the second album and what these guys have in store for us in the future. Hailz Satan! Carni patri gloria aeterna!
