Hailing from Brazil, here are these entities immersed in anonymous obscurantism. Illumination comes strong with their first EP, Worship Death More Than Life, on 4th March. Illumination is performed by current and former members of acts as Nervochaos, Grave Desecrator, ColdBlood, Poem’s Death and Aghory. Two guest vocals also have contributed to this blast release, Devilish (Darkstorm, ex-Cult of Fire) and Renato Gimenez (Vazio).

Worship Death More Than Life is an EP that surprises because it takes its tracks in different directions, forming an intriguing jointure between atmospheric, raw, melodic, doom and depressive black metal. The sturdy and burdensome tradition certainly cannot be missing in any work worthy of the style. Having said these words, I will specify more by saying that, from the first track, “Ngh W Srr”, these combinations shrouded in the grim fog are exalted. Undoubtedly the musicians of Illumination are experienced and know very well how to reach the listeners.
The track starts almost lugubrious with a mournful burden, the beats are peculiar, and the vocals kick off obscurely deep and exhaling death.

Illumination explores the keyboards throughout their songs in a balanced way, and appealing to this action, they bring out this mysterious and cavernous tone. The guitars do a well-done and melodic job. The drums impose themselves dazzlingly, the bass is full of impetus, the vocals maintain cohesion throughout the performance.

Illumination did very well in this first musical endeavour. You know, this EP is weird, it’s not terribly sad and heartbreaking, but it’s not lively and punishing either. Beautifully composed, with all the abilities of these entities, the mood of this album is located between life and death; it’s like being in suspension.
The adepts of Chaos Magick could say, “It’s not the darkness you must fear, but the Light”.
Fear Illumination because they came to stay and will show you how exquisite they can be, matching everything in one.
Congrats to the “Carioca” underground!
